HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I've let my livejournal die a dry, lonely little death.
I'm sorry. Let me complete the circle of life, though:

I've been avoiding a lot of websites/people for the past couple of days because the world is a dangerous place right now if you're avoiding Harry Potter spoilers. (Also, the movie was pretty good- the Ministry fight scene was just too fantastic; see it at the cinema if you can, the big screen just amplifies the beauty of it all! AH!)

Oh! I've also thrown a great deal of time toward youtube.com watching classically trained musicians kick ass; unlike the past hours that I've spent on youtube (watching ridiculous things), I can hardly call this "squandering" my time.

This is my favorite: Nathan Milstein playing Vitali Chaconne; it's quite deliciousssss to behold. (wahoo!) (note: He's not visually playing in the video- it's a sound recording.

". . . focus on these words, and whatever you do don't let your eyes wander past the perimeter of this page. Now imagine just beyond your peripheral vision, maybe behind you, maybe to the side of you, maybe even in front of you, but right where you can't see it, something is quietly closing in on you, so quiet in fact you can only hear it as silence. Find those pockets with out sound. That's where it is. Right at this moment. But don't look. Keep your eyes here. Now take a deep breath. Go ahead and take an even deeper one. Only this time as you start to exhale try to imagine how fast it will happen, how hard it's gonna hit you, how many times it will stab your jugular with its teeth or are they nails?, don't worry, that particular detail doesn't matter, because before you have time to even process that you should be moving, you should be running, you should at the very least be flinging up your arms- you sure as hell should be getting rid of this book- you won't have time to even scream.

Don't look."

"Love partakes of the soul itself. It is of the same nature. Like the soul, it is a divine spark; it is incorruptible, indivisible, imperishable. It is a point of fire within us, which is immortal and infinite, which nothing can limit and nothing can extinguish. We feel it burning even in the marrow of our bones, and we see it radiate even to the depths of the sky."

Les Misérables, Victor Hugo

"New York was an inexhaustible space, a labyrinth of endless steps, and no matter how far he walked, no matter how well he came to know its neighborhoods and streets, it always left him with the feeling of being lost. Lost, not only in the city, but within himself as well. Each time he took a walk, he felt as though he were leaving himself behind, and by giving himself up to the movement of the streets, by reducing himself to a seeing eye, he was able to escape the obligation to think, and this, more than anything else, brought him a measure of peace, a salutary emptiness within. The world was outside of him, around him, before him, and the speed with which it kept changing made it impossible for him to dwell on any one thing for very long. Motion was of the essence, the act of putting one foot in front of the other and allowing himself to follow the drift of his own body. By wandering aimlessly, all places became equal, and it no longer mattered where he was. On his best walks he was able to feel that he was nowhere. And this, finally, was all he ever asked of things: to be nowhere. New York was that nowhere he has build around himself, and he realized that he has no intention of ever leaving it again."

" The pale, cold light of the winter sunset did not beautify- it was like the light of truth itself. When the smoky clouds hung low in the west and the red sun went down behind them, leaving a pink flush on the snowy roofs and the blue drifts, then the wind sprang up afresh, with a kind of bitter song, as if it said: 'This is reality, whether you like it or not. All those frivolities of summer, the light and shadow, the living mask of green that trembled over everything, they were lies, and this is what was underneath. This is the truth.' It was as if we were being punished for loving the loveliness of summer."
- Willa Cather

Oh hey, I reaching the being-sixteen-for-a-week mark come this Monday.

I'm scanning some art right now, but my scanner's surface isn't big enough and so I'm resorting to scanning corners and halves for the most part. I'll try and 're-piece' them back together in photoshop. Maybe.
